Helping You Create Meaningful Change
Therapy for people in New YorK & Florida
Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
I’m Dena. My clients inspire me daily because they dare to show up and do the hard work of self-reflecting and exploring the messy parts of being a human in this complex world. I work best with folks who are tired of being in pain, and sick of the labels, expectations, and even diagnoses that have been placed on them. I believe you are the author of your own story and you are the expert on your own life. I am here to be a witness to the difficulties you have lived through, help you see them clearly, and gain perspective to empower you to rewrite your story on your terms. I will collaborate with you to help you identify patterns and beliefs that are no longer serving you. I will encourage you to pay attention to your intuition, get curious about your desires and needs, and move toward deeper self-awareness.
In my years of clinical work as a therapist, I have worked with clients from all walks of life who have experienced stressful and painful events, whether it was a single event or occurred over a lifetime. Often when we experience challenging situations or relationships, we not only carry confusion or shame about what happened, but shame around how we learned to cope, think, or behave as a consequence. I am here to help you untangle those negative beliefs about yourself, gently examine your coping mechanisms, and help you develop tools to ground yourself in the present moment and not in the past. I want you to know that there is hope, joy, connection, and peace on the other side.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida and New York and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) with a Master of Science from Hunter College. I root my clinical work within a humanistic, trauma-informed perspective, and use a psychodynamic approach that incorporates mindfulness, relational theory, attachment theory, and parts work to help uncover unconscious motivations and ingrained patterns of thought and behaviors. I have been practicing and teaching yoga, mindfulness, and meditation for 15 years, and I sometimes bring these into my therapeutic work.
